- the University's reputation
- efficient running of University business
- approving urgent business matters
- recruitment, appointment, termination, review and remuneration of relevant senior staff
- recruitment, appointment, termination, review and remuneration of the Vice-Chancellor
- Vice-Chancellor's performance targets
- performance and remuneration of Council members
