Meet Tim Connor

Why did you join the University Council?

The University has an exceptionally smart, talented and committed workforce.
I joined Council because I am keen to help improve UoN’s management structures,
so they take full advantage of this talent by becoming less hierarchical and more cooperative.

What do you look back on most fondly when it comes to your own education?

When completing my BA at the University of Sydney, I loved participating in the clubs and societies (Drama, Theatresports, Poetry). When completing my BA at UNSW, I loved the in-class debates regarding different laws and regulatory strategies. When completing my PhD here at UON, I loved the fortnightly Human Geography reading groups, where academics and PhD students would together discuss and debate insights from influential thinkers.

Biography

Tim has been an academic in the School of Law and Justice since 2010. Before joining the University, he worked for fifteen years for Oxfam Australia, where his research and advocacy contributed to a global campaign on working conditions in the supply chains of Nike, Adidas and other sports brands. Since moving to academia, Tim has continued to research the relationship between business and human rights, while also researching and writing about corporate governance and the theoretical foundations of corporate law. He is a creative and committed teacher who designs highly engaging in-class activities, draws on current social issues to highlight each course's relevance and works hard to establish a supportive classroom culture. He has received national and university-level awards for the quality of his teaching.
