Meet Elizabeth Crouch AM

Why did you join the University Council?
I have a passion for universities and the important role they play in their communities, in the life of their students and in supporting research endeavours that shape our world for the future. Joining the University Council is a privilege and an opportunity to bring my experiences and insights to the important work of the University through its governing body.
What do you look back on most fondly when it comes to your own education?
Laying the foundations for lifeline learning, gaining new knowledge and experiences, contributing to key areas of research and making important connections and friends among the student and academic cohort.
Biography
Elizabeth is a seasoned company director with experience across the public and private sectors. She chairs a number of Boards including the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, the Customer Owned Banking Association, Ochre Health, Hearing Australia and Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese. Elizabeth is the Emerita Deputy Chancellor of Macquarie University and she sits on the boards of the NSW Institute of Sport and Hunter Water Corporation.
She has held several previous Non-Executive Director roles with ASX-listed companies including ReadyTech, Bingo Industries, McGrath and Chandler Macleod. She was also previously on the boards of Macquarie University Hospital, RailCorp and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. She spent 16 years with the Federal Government before moving into the private sector and is a respected executive coach and mentor.
Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Masters of Cyber Security from Macquarie University. In 2019, she was awarded an Order of Australia for services to higher education and the rail transport sector.
