Description
This combined degree program provides students with the opportunity to increase the depth and breadth of their study in relevant disciplines within Commerce and Business Analytics whilst completing two awards over four years of full-time study or part-time equivalent.
A combined degree program enhances the academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree. At the same time, it recognises the increasing need for students to graduate with multidisciplinary skills.

Admission requirements
Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants meeting the minimum selection rank, or satisfying the requirements for an approved admission scheme.
The University of Newcastle accepts a range of qualifications to determine eligibility for admission. These include, but are not limited to, Australian or overseas senior secondary qualifications (such as the HSC), prior tertiary studies, prior TAFE/VET studies, and completed enabling programs.

Academic requirements for program completion

320 units
Program duration
4 years full-time or part-time equivalent up to 10 years maximum.
International students studying this program on campus are required to enrol full time to comply with their student visa requirements and complete their study in the standard minimum program duration. Program requirements
The Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Analytics requires students to successfully complete 320 units, which is comprised of:
- 160 units of core courses;
- One 60 Commerce unit major (20 units of Core courses also count towards the major for a total of 80 units);
- 10 units from the Career-ready placement course list;
- 90 units of electives.
Students must not exceed a maximum of 100 units at any level in each of the component programs.
Students must only complete courses that form part of the program and must not complete more than 320 units.
Greater Bank Finance Lab - Located on level one of the University’s new state of the art CBD vertical campus, NUspace, the Greater Bank Finance Lab is a hands-on learning environment, enabling University of Newcastle Business School students to build their skills in financial decision making, risk management and economic systems, before they graduate.

Program Revisions 2024
From Semester 1, 2024 there are changes to the core course requirements of the Bachelor of Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Analytics program. BUSA3004 has been removed from the core course list and a 10 unit Career-ready placement course list has been added to the program.

Program Revisions 2022
From 2022 ECON2003 Introductory Econometrics will replace STAT2020 Predictive Analytics in the Bachelor of Business Analytics Core course requirements. Transition arrangements are as follows:
- Students who have completed STAT2020 Predictive Analytics prior to 2022 will continue to count STAT2020 as a core course toward their Bachelor of Business Analytics and will not be required to complete ECON2003 Introductory Econometrics.
- Students who have not completed STAT2020 Predictive Analytics prior to 2022 will complete ECON2003 Introductory Econometrics as a core course toward their Bachelor of Business Analytics.
