Cross-Campus Parking information and rules - Accessibility

General information about general parking on campus can be found on this page.

Any person who has been granted a NSW or interstate Mobility Parking Scheme permit, including an Australian Disability Permit, can park in Disabled, Staff and General bays free of charge at Callaghan and Ourimbah Campuses, or on-street at other locations. Please display your permit clearly on the passenger side of your front windscreen.

If you have a temporary medical condition (like an injury or another temporary impairment) and require closer parking, you can apply for a University temporary mobility parking permit at the Callaghan and Ourimbah campuses.

Mobility support on Callaghan Campus

Information about mobility support on Callaghan Campus is available on this page. 

Book the mobility bus with AccessAbility to help you access your welcome sessions and points of interest on the Callaghan Campus.

Fill out the online Mobility support form to request this service, or download the Mobility Support Form and send it to AccessAbility.

This service is available for attendees with a permanent or temporary condition that requires support visiting Callaghan.


Accessible Toilet

The Callaghan Campus provides accessible toilets, which you can locate using MazeMaps.

Select the “Points of Interest” to turn on “Toilet – accessible”.  locations. You can also filter by gender.


Getting around with reduced mobility (Callaghan):

You can use MazeMaps to find your way around Callaghan campus if you have reduced mobility. Follow these instructions:

  1. Click on “Directions” and enter your destination to generate an itinerary.
  2. Check the box for “Avoid stairs and obstacles” to generate an alternative itinerary.

Parking  in Newcastle City

There is no general university parking on site at our Newcastle City campus; however, paid parking is available in the surrounding.

Read the information on our website to learn more about your parking and transport options.

Information about the parking rates is available on the City of Newcastle website, where you can also find a map of off-street parking.


Parking options nearby:

  • Wright Lane carpark (public, between Q and NUspace buildings):  paid, via EasyPark app.
  • Civic West carpark (Hunter Parking and Storage, 291 King St): short walk away; Use your student card to access the facilities at a discounted rate ($2.50/hr or $10/day) after applying for pre-approval (allow 48 hrs processing).
  • On-street paid parking is also available nearby.

Newcastle campus accessible toilets

Ourimbah: parking information

  • All parking is free at Ourimbah; traffic/parking rules still apply.
  • RTA/NSW Mobility Permit holders can park in Disabled, Staff, and General bays (permit displayed on front left windscreen).
  • Temporary accessible permits available via AccessAbility if needed for a temporary condition.

Gosford Precinct (Central Coast Clinical School)

Gosford City Car Park (GCC) is accessible on foot via a lift on Baker Street (Ground Level) servicing all 5 levels. Staff and students can access discounted rates for parking on levels 2-5 of the facility on a first-come, first-served basis.
