Dealing with workplace issues

We are a respectful and collaborative workplace. All workplace issues and concerns should be taken seriously. As a manager or supervisor you have a responsibility to:

  • lead by example and promote a respectful and collaborative workplace
  • be familiar with and actively promote the Resolving Workplace Concerns or Conflict Procedure (PDF, 216KB) and Promoting a Respectful and Collaborative University Policy
  • monitor the workplace for early identification and resolution of workplace concerns and conflict
  • monitor the wellbeing of your staff for negative impacts on emotional or psychological health
  • encourage staff members to use the self help pathway in the appendix of the procedure (PDF, 216KB)
  • address less serious issues at the local level so they do not escalate
  • make file notes of your involvement
  • help your staff member escalate issues to your HR contact if applicable
  • treat all workplace concerns and conflicts seriously, fairly, impartially and confidentially
