Guaranteed Entry Admission Scheme
If you’ve completed, or are close to completing, an Australian VET qualification or a University of Newcastle enabling or pathway program, you may be eligible for guaranteed entry. Available through select degree programs.
Details
If you’ve completed or are nearing completion of:
- an Australian TAFE or other AQF qualification at a minimum of AQF Level 4 (Certificate IV), or
- a University of Newcastle enabling program (Open Foundation, Newstep, Yapug) within the last 10 years, or
- a University of Newcastle pathway program (Diploma, Undergraduate Certificate).
Applicants who haven’t studied at the University of Newcastle
You should apply via UAC if:
- you’ve never studied at the University of Newcastle;
- you completed a University of Newcastle enabling program within the last 10 years; or
- you’ve completed a University of Newcastle pathway program.
To be considered for Guaranteed Entry, you must include one or more of the eligible degree programs in your UAC preferences. To maximise your chances of receiving an offer, list the University of Newcastle your first preference.
Applicants who have previously studied or are currently studying at University of Newcastle
If you’ve previously studied, are currently studying, or have completed a University of Newcastle enabling program within the last 10 years, here's how you can apply for a program:
- If you’re enrolled in a degree program or nearing completion of a diploma, you must submit an Internal Transfer application and include one or more of these degree programs in your preferences.
- If you’re nearing the end of an enabling program (Open Foundation or Yapug), you must submit a Your Next Move application and include one or more of these degree programs in your preferences.
- Your Next Move and Internal Transfer applications are open twice a year, typically in May and November.

What happens after I apply via UAC?
UAC will assess your qualifications and assign you a rank. If you’re currently completing an Australian TAFE or other AQF qualification, this assessment will usually take place once you have finished.
Once your rank has been assigned, your eligibility for Guaranteed Entry will be automatically assessed, and you’ll be considered for an offer of admission.
What happens after I apply internally at the University of Newcastle?
Your application will be processed after the relevant semester’s fully graded date.
Please refer to our key dates.
Offers of admission are made during UACs fortnightly offer rounds. For key dates and offer round details, please refer to UAC's website for important dates
Bachelor of Music & Performing Arts and Bachelor of Music & Performing Arts/Bachelor of Arts
