Schools Recommendation Scheme

To apply, you need to be:

• a domestic Year 12 student currently completing an Australian Year 12 qualification or the International Baccalaureate in Australia.
• a UAC applicant for undergraduate admission
• an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen (or dual citizenship holders of either Australia or New Zealand), Australian permanent resident, or Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa holder.

If you’re an interstate or International Baccalaureate applicant, you should wait until 1 August to complete both your UAC undergraduate and Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) application. UAC requires access to your Year 12 student ID details, which they’ll receive by August.

The following degree programs are not included in this scheme:

• Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Diagnostic Radiography)
• Bachelor of Midwifery
• Bachelor of Music and Performing Arts
• Bachelor of Music and Performing Arts/Bachelor of Arts
• Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)
• Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy
• Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)
• Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
• Joint Medical Program.

The application is integrated into the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) undergraduate application. Once you’ve submitted your undergraduate application through UAC, you’ll be given access to the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) application via a link.

The following criteria are considered when assessing your application:

• your Year 11 academic performance
• your school’s rating.

If your Year 11 results and your schools' ratings indicate that you’re on track to meet our admission requirements, you’ll receive a conditional offer of admission from November Round 1 onwards.

• Your University of Newcastle preferences must be included in your UAC application by 11.59pm 6 November 2025.
