How to apply via UAC

Changing your preferences

Once you've applied, you can change or modify your preferences and the programs you’ve selected as often as you like before the deadline for each offer round. Refer to UAC key dates.

To do this, simply log in to your application. You can't change your preferences by phone, letter or email.

Offers

Offers are typically released at 7:30am on each offer round date and will also appear in your application record.

You can receive only one offer per round, and it will be for the highest preference where you meet the eligibility and are most competitive.

ATAR

If you’re currently completing or have recently completed your HSC or an equivalent qualification, you may be eligible to receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).. The ATAR is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that reflects your performance in the HSC relative to other students, and it can be used as a basis for university admission

Selection ranks

A selection rank is a combination of your ATAR (or rank) and any applicable adjustment factors.

Selection ranks from different qualifications are not combined. Rather, the highest rank is used to assess your eligibility for admission. For degrees with limited places, offers are made to the highest-ranked applicants.

Adjustment factors are additional points added to your ATAR or rank to calculate  your selection rank for a specific degree program. These points may be awarded based on factors such as your performance in HSC subjects, school location, leadership experience, achievements as an elite athlete or performer, and experiences of long-term educational disadvantage. If you're eligible, you can receive up to 12 adjustment points. Adjustment factors are only available through UAC and include:

  • Year 12 Adjustment Scheme
  • Regional and Rural Adjustment Scheme
  • Educational Access Scheme
  • Leaders, Athletes and Performers Adjustment Scheme
  • Special Circumstances Adjustment Scheme.

Year 12 Adjustment

You can receive up to four adjustment factors based on your individual HSC subject results. No separate application is required for this program. Find out which HSC subjects and band levels currently attract adjustment factors (PDF, 305 KB).

Regional and Rural Students

If you’re an HSC student attending  a regional school in a selected postcodes, you may be awarded up to five additional adjustment points. This applies to all undergraduate degrees, except the Bachelor of Midwifery and the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine. You don't need to apply – the points will be automatically added to your rank.

Enter the postcode of your high school into the calculator below to see if you are eligible for this adjustment.

Educational Access

If you’ve experienced significant educational disadvantage, you may be eligible to receive up to four adjustment points. To apply for the Educational Access Scheme (EAS), you must first submit your UAC application, then complete an online EAS application.

Leaders, Athletes and Performers

If you’re an elite athlete, performer, artist, or leader with proven experience, you may be eligible to receive up to four adjustment factors. To apply, you must first submit your UAC application, then complete an online Elite Athlete Form or Leaders and Performers Form.
