If you have recently completed or are due to complete your program, there are two options available for applying to an undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle.

Apply direct through Your Next Move

Apply for eligible undergraduate degrees offered at the University of Newcastle through our free Your Next Move process.

The following University of Newcastle degrees are not available for direct application through Your Next Move* and are only available for admission in Semester 1, 2027 through a UAC application:

• Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Diagnostic Radiography)
• Bachelor of Midwifery
• Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)
• Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy
• Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
• Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
• Joint Medical Program

*Excluded programs are reviewed annually and may change.

Apply through UAC

Some degrees at the University of Newcastle are not available for direct application through Your Next Move and are only available for admission through a UAC application which incurs a UAC application processing fee.

If you would like to apply to an Australian university in another state or territory, you’ll need to apply through the relevant Tertiary Admissions Centre and/or directly with the university.

Round 1

• Applications open: Friday 16 October 2026
• Applications close: Sunday 13 December 2026 - 11:59pm
• Offers released: Monday 21 December 2026

Round 2

• Applications reopen: Wednesday 23 December 2026
• Applications close: Sunday 7 February 2027 - 11:59pm
• Offers released: Monday 15 February 2027

Upon successful completion of your Pathway program, you are guaranteed entry into selected degrees at the University of Newcastle.

If you have recently completed or are due to complete your Diploma, there are two options available for applying to an undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle.

Apply for an Internal Transfer

For most undergraduate programs, you can apply through the University's Direct Entry application portal.

Applying directly to the University is free, and eligible applicants may receive an offer within a few weeks.

When completing your application, make sure you include details of all your relevant qualifications and experience, including:

• Secondary school studies and qualifications
• Previous tertiary or vocational education and training
• Relevant work experience, where applicable

You may need to provide supporting documentation for any relevant qualifications completed outside the University of Newcastle.

Apply through UAC

Some students will need to apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), rather than directly to the University.

You'll need to apply through UAC if you're:

• Applying for a competitive quota program listed below
• Seeking consideration under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Admission Scheme
• Applying for adjustment factors through the Educational Access Scheme (EAS) or the Elite Athlete and Performer Scheme
• Applying for a Music and Performing Arts program, after first contacting the Admissions team

The following programs require an application through UAC and are not available through the University's Direct Entry application portal:

Excluded programs are reviewed annually and may change. If you're applying for one of these programs, we recommend including other programs you're interested in studying in your UAC preferences, in your preferred order.

When will I receive an outcome to my Direct Entry application?

If you meet the admission requirements for your preferred program, you may receive an offer within a few weeks of submitting your completed application.

If your eligibility for admission depends on results from studies you're currently completing, your application may need to be assessed once those results become available.

For students relying on their current year's university studies, this will generally mean waiting until final results are released at the end of the academic year.
