Lecture Theatres and Classrooms

The University of Newcastle has a large variety of lecture theatres and classroom venues suitable for your event.*

Choose a city location or the natural beauty of the Callaghan Campus. Capacity options range from small-scale boardroom meetings for 10, to 550-person theatre-style events. Most of our lecture theatres are situated near classroom or meeting rooms for breakout spaces or to host event registration and catering.

Catering can be arranged through our on-site caterer or, if at Callaghan, you can take a much-needed lunch break at our nearby restaurant, Local Connections.

Venue Hire

Can I hire furniture for my booking?

Seating in our tiered lecture theatres is fixed. Classrooms will come with tables and chairs.

Can I hire catering for my booking?

Our in house caterer NUservices can meet your food and beverage needs with breakfast, lunch, and canape menus or you are welcome to use your usual caterer.

What AV options do I have for my booking?

Lecture Theatres and classrooms include a screen and wireless or HDMI connection. Should you require AV assistance a run-through with a preferred supplier in advance of the event is recommended. Preferred suppliers include A1 Audio and Lighting, Fordtronic AV and Scion Audio.

You will have access to the UON Conference wifi. Please check with venuesandevents@newcastle.edu.au for the current password.

How do I make room configuration requests?

Should you require a space to be set up in a specific layout, you will need to make a request at least ten business days prior to your event via email to venuesandevents@newcastle.edu.au.

What if I need onsite assistance or have an emergency situation?

We aim to meet all clients on site and can assist with AV set up if needed. Onsite Security team members can provide first aid and assist in the case of an emergency. They can be contacted on 4921 5888. If you need to contact the Venues and Events team you can call 4921 6759.
