TEDxNewy

The University of Newcastle is proud to partner with TEDxNewy, supporting the ideas, innovation and conversations that help shape a vibrant and connected Hunter region. As Presenting Partner, we share a commitment to championing fresh thinking, elevating local voices and creating opportunities for our community to engage with ideas that matter.

Through this partnership, the University helps connect researchers, alumni, students and community leaders with audiences eager to explore new perspectives and solutions. TEDxNewy has built a strong reputation for bringing diverse voices together, creating meaningful public conversations and strengthening the social and cultural fabric of our region. The partnership reflects the University's belief that Newcastle benefits when people come together to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and imagine new possibilities for the future.

The partnership also showcases the impact of the University community beyond campus. In 2025, University researcher Dr Daniel Beard took the TEDxNewy stage to share insights from his groundbreaking stroke research. In 2026, respected ENT surgeon and advocate Associate Professor Kelvin Kong, University alumni Jacob Ure and Peter Richardson will build on this momentum, sharing ideas, experiences and perspectives that challenge thinking, spark discussion and inspire action.

By supporting TEDxNewy, the University is investing in a future where local ideas can thrive, community connections are strengthened, and people from all walks of life can engage with new ways of thinking. The partnership is part of our broader commitment to supporting locally led initiatives that connect communities, encourage curiosity and help create a more capable, connected and culturally rich region.
