Each year, the partnership creates meaningful opportunities for students to gain real-world experience while contributing to the local community.

Through Career Ready placements and volunteering opportunities, students from business, event management and related disciplines work alongside the Show team to support the planning, marketing and delivery of a major event. These hands-on experiences help students build practical skills, develop professional networks and graduate with valuable industry experience.

The partnership creates a platform for emerging creative talent. Student musicians from the University perform throughout the Show, entertaining thousands of visitors while gaining valuable live performance experience and exposure to new audiences. These opportunities help students build confidence and showcase their talents.

The partnership also delivers tangible benefits for the community. Nursing students and allied health disciplines contribute to free health checks and community clinic initiatives at the Show, providing visitors with access to health information and support while gaining practical experience in community-based care. These interactions help students apply their learning in real-world settings and strengthen their understanding of community health needs.

Together, the University and the Newcastle Show share a commitment to enriching the Hunter region through education, community connection and opportunity.

The next Newcastle Show will be held from 26-28 February 2027, celebrating 125 years of bringing the country to the city and connecting generations of the Newcastle community.
