Safer Sexual Health and Relationships

The University provides resources and services designed to empower our university community to make informed decisions about sexual health and respectful relationships in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

  • Sexual health checks by appointment (Tues Thurs Frid) bulk billed/covered by OSHC at the University Health Service
  • Free HIV test kit via MyTest vending machine NuSpace Ground Floor
  • Free condoms via dispensers:
    • All gender unisex bathroom, NuSpace, near library - Level 1;
    • Outside University Health Service, Level 1, Student Services Building;
    • All gender unisex bathroom, Room L306 Auchmuty Library;
    • All gender unisex bathroom, Bar on the Hill
    • All our partner sexual health clinics listed below provide free condoms and lube;

When To Have a Sexual Health Check

  • If you are sexually active - it's good to have a sexual health check once a year, and
  • When starting a new relationship or changing partners
  • After unprotected sex or condom breakage
  • If you or your partner have multiple partners
  • If you or your partner have symptoms (discharge, sores, pain)
  • During pregnancy

If left unchecked STIs can get worse and may cause complications including infertility. STIs can be effectively treated and those that can't be cured can be managed - reducing or completely preventing transmission. If you think you have an STI, get checked out, confidentially, by a doctor at our Uni Health Service or another clinic:

Phone 1800 451 624 for guidance on HIV, STIs, Hepatitis, PrEP, PEP, Mpox, testing options, sexual health risk assessments, and partner notification. Monday to Friday 9 am to 5.30pm.
