Australian Business Register (ABR)
The University of Newcastle has a partnership agreement with the Australian Business Register (ABR), which allows certain authorised University staff (“entrusted persons”) to access ABR non-public data for the purposes of:
- Undertaking investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement functions;
- Procurement;
- Validating and updating databases; and
- Education and communications.
This data supports due diligence checks for procurement, research and donation processes; verification of declared interests; detection of fraud and corruption; and complaint and investigation processes.
Legal and Compliance is responsible for managing requests for access to the ABR Explorer portal and maintaining a record of all entrusted persons.
Staff whose duties involve any of the abovementioned functions are able to apply to become an entrusted person.
The request form and associated guidance note can be found via the ServiceNow employee portal – Legal Advice and Support.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
