Hear first-hand why our 2019 Ma & Morley scholar, Kieran, chose to apply and his experience as part of the scholarship program.
A descendant of the TubbaGah people of the Wiradjuri nation from Dubbo and the Murrawarri people from remote far north-west NSW, he is proud of his heritage and his journey to study a Bachelor of Medical Science. Before starting university, Kieran worked with the NSW Fair Trading and Legal Aid NSW, assisting Indigenous Australians with legal issues across civil, family and criminal law. He spent time in remote Aboriginal communities, at times working with men who had offended in the past and helping them turn their lives around. And he’s also acted as a mentor for young Aboriginal trainees and apprentices. As a doctor, Kieran’s mission will be combating chronic diseases that can be prevented through primary care and education in Aboriginal communities.
