Appointments with an online counsellor are available using phone, webcam, text, or email.

Online counselling is virtually the same as standard counselling, except that instead of sitting in an office, you connect with the counsellor via an online format. The issues students bring to counselling are the same, the therapeutic techniques used by the counsellors are the same, and privacy and confidentiality rules are the same.
How you connect online is up to you. The options for online counselling are:
- Zoom (audio, video or text)
- Online Drop-in
Phone appointments involve the counsellor calling your mobile or landline at the time of the appointment. For Zoom appointments, you can use either webcam (video), audio, or text chat. The counsellor will email you a zoom link prior to the session.
Drop-in for a chat (via Skype text only) and get advice and support – no appointment is necessary. Counsellors and Wellbeing Advisors are available on Skype at the following times:
- Monday 1 to 2pm
- Tuesday 8 to 9pm
- Wednesday 3.30 to 4.30pm
- Thursday 2.30 to 3.30pm and 8 to 9pm
- Friday 10 to 11am
To use online drop in, send a request to add UoNonlinecounsellor to your Skype contacts. Once this has been accepted, you can initiate a chat during the session times.
NOTE: After Hours Online Drop-in does not run outside of semester dates.
