Student Employee of the Year

This award is for outstanding student achievement in a paid position (including those offered by the University of Newcastle). The recipient will have engaged in meaningful and consequential workplace activity that has benefited their career development as well as the partner employer or organisation.

Selection Criteria

The Student Employee of the Year Award celebrates a student who has demonstrated outstanding and exceptional achievement or success in their workplace. The award recognises the personal and professional development gained from their involvement in paid employment and beyond their academic studies.

For example, the student may have:

  • demonstrated positive impact in the workplace
  • developed evidence of their employability skills
  • demonstrated outstanding and exceptional achievement or success
  • provided an outstanding service to clients
  • contributed to an outstanding or novel initiative which has been implemented
  • contributed to significant improvements to work procedures or operational systems

Eligibility

Nomination is open for all students from the University of Newcastle who engaged in paid work in 2023. This includes students who completed their studies at the end of Semester 1, Trimester 1, or Trimester 2.

For a nomination to be eligible a nominator must be a business/industry/community partner, University of Newcastle staff member or current student.
