Student Entrepreneur of the Year

This award is for a student who has engaged in a technological, social or creative entrepreneurial and innovation activity. The Student Entrepreneur of the Year recipient will have a demonstrated ability to think differently and present new concepts while achieving impact in the areas of enterprise and innovation.

Selection Criteria

The award celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of a University of Newcastle student by recognising outstanding performance in an entrepreneurial activity they started or successfully managed.

For example, the student may have:

  • demonstrated development of an innovative product, service and/or business model
  • demonstrated customer base and sustainable business model
  • demonstrated environmental, social and/or economic impact
  • demonstrated outstanding and exceptional achievement or success
  • demonstrated connection or participation with the Integrated Innovation Network (I2N) ecosystem
  • demonstrated strong entrepreneurial mindset through translating a vision into reality, a willingness to take risks, engaging others, or facing ambiguity with enthusiasm

Eligibility

Nomination is open for all students from the University of Newcastle. This includes students who completed their studies at the end of Semester 1, Trimester 1, or Trimester 2.

For a nomination to be eligible a nominator must be a business/industry/community partner, University of Newcastle staff member or current student.
