Assets

Expenditure relating to the purchase, creation or subsequent improvement of an asset controlled by the University of Newcastle.  Capital expenditure may relate to tangible assets (such as land, building, or equipment) or intangible assets (such as intellectual property or long term software licenses) that have a useful life beyond 12 months.

Asset transfers

If an item is no longer needed or used in a Faculty, School or Division the furniture or equipment can be transferred from one area to the next. These internal transfers can be agreed on a 'no cost' basis or at a negotiated price.

Infrastructure and Facilities Services can relocate furniture and equipment; please log a request via Maximo.

Where Infrastructure and Facilities Services are not required to relocate the asset a request to relocate should be made via serviceUON.

Disposal of assets

If equipment is no longer in working order, and you need to dispose of an asset, please log a request via Maximo.

Assets can also be disposed of via:

  • external transfer to another institution
  • sale by public tender
  • sale by public auction
  • sale to auctioneers
  • sale at a negotiated price
