Running and Monitoring the Session
Admitting students
- Open the Participants panel from the bottom toolbar. Students in the waiting room are listed there.
- Admit individually or use Admit All when you are ready to start.
- Communicate with students any passwords to access their quiz and what is expected of them during the quiz. Advise whether you need the student to notify when submitting their quiz and leaving the Zoom.
Monitoring
Switch to Gallery view (top-right of your Zoom window) to see all participants as tiles.
Camera off: Use host-only chat to ask the student to turn their camera back on.
Student communications during the session: You can ask the students to message you directly, or message them directly if they have their camera off or have muted themselves.
Connection dropout: Have a backup contact method (e.g. via Canvas) ready for students who lose their connection entirely.
Closer look: Right-click any tile → Spotlight to pin a student to a larger view without disrupting the session.
Ending the session
Announce verbally when time is up and give students a moment to submit before closing. Use End Meeting for All (not just 'Leave') to close the session for everyone at once. Export the chat log if needed before closing.
