Learning Design and Teaching Innovation supports the University of Newcastle's course enhancement initiatives, providing advice on the most appropriate pedagogical approaches for learning in different contexts, along with the production of high-quality learning resources to support blended and online learning.

Our focus is to make your course an engaging and enriching experience for students.
Our team can assist across all areas of course design. We provide advice on pedagogical approaches, and uses of technology for student learning. We help with the build and delivery of your course, and the production of high-quality resources. We also offer professional development for Academic staff in teaching and learning, with a range of personalised workshops and teaching resources available to meet your needs.
Facilities are also available to support do-it-yourself or direct to camera video production. Staff can also book a multi-camera production studio for the creation of videos for courses.

Our learning design services address the three overlapping needs of the university community. First, we partner and collaborate with academics across various units, and service providers to provide practical support and advice. Second, we enable and facilitate academics to expand their teaching expertise. Third, we build and create solutions in Canvas and other tools to address the learning needs of your students.

Our Learning Technology team manage the day-to-day support of the suite of academic technologies that make up the University of Newcastle's virtual learning environment. We work with colleagues across the University to embed educational technologies in teaching practice. We work with staff on the most appropriate use of technology to ensure the best and most pedagogically sound outcomes for our students.

Learning Media
Our Learning Media team is available to assist with the production of a range of media content in support of your course learning outcomes. Custom media production includes field recordings, interviews, demonstrations, simulations, lightboard recordings, drone footage, 360 degree video, 3D and 2D animation, infographics, graphic design and development of web tools.

Academic Misconduct using Gen AI
This 60-minute session is intended for academic staff, and will include a discussion of how implementing secure assessments (as outlined in the University of Newcastle Assessment Framework) can limit opportunities for misconduct and support the integrity of our awards.
