Health Policy and Health Services Management

About

The Newcastle Business School Health Policy and Health Services Management cluster harnesses long-standing research strengths of two complementary research groups - Value in Health Economics and Policy (VHeP) and Health Services Research and Innovation Centre (HSRIC). The VHeP group aims to identify inefficiencies within the current healthcare system and engage with healthcare stakeholders to provide sustainable, value-based assessments of health interventions and policies. The HSRIC aims to improve the design and management of health services with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to addressing critical health challenges.

Researchers from Professors to PhD students work side-by-side within the cluster to share the latest thinking, skills and expertise. The cluster involves researchers from a range of management disciplines who use a range of methodological approaches across both quantitative and qualitative methods, working on topics such as:

  • Health service management and transformation
  • Health system design
  • Value in health economics and policy
  • Health consumer diversity and end user needs.
  • COVID-19’s impact on health systems nationally and globally
  • The health workforce and workforce resilience
  • Well-being and diversity in the medical / med-tech industry

The cluster’s work aligns Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, and research priorities within the management and economic disciplines of the business school.
