Study with us
Our students develop in-demand skills that are transferrable across industries, while also having access to the latest technologies. All of our undergraduate degrees now include diverse placement opportunities that will prepare students to be work-ready when they graduate. Students can also pursue an Honours year to further develop their specific areas of interest.
Creative Arts
If you are looking for a career in the world of music, film, television, design, games, and performing arts or want to write, design and produce audio, visual and strategic content for brands, clients and audiences, check out our creative degree programs. They have a focus on hands-on learning and let you collaborate with industry partners and the creative community. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide the ideal platform for you to establish the career you want when you graduate.
Humanities
Our humanities degrees address the essential need for community engagement and employability outcomes for our students. The Bachelor of Arts includes an Everyday Laboratory (EL) model, which uses our city and region as a living lab for teaching and learning. Our School is also home to the Diploma in Languages – Chinese, French and Japanese – and the international exchanges in a wide range of global experiences during their studies.
Social Sciences
Social sciences degrees provide students with socio-cultural analysis skills that are highly valued by employers. At postgraduate levels, students can develop advanced research skills through the Master of Social Change and Development.
Social Work
Our social work programs train students for one of the most in-demand employment pathways of the future. We've also recently launched a new Master of Social Work Qualifying.
The Human in Humanities
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
