Facilities

The School of Humanities, Creative Industries, and Social Sciences collaborates across a series of world-class, creative and cultural campus spaces at Callaghan, Ourimbah and Newcastle's CBD education precinct. It is playing an important part in bringing a renewed sense of vibrancy in the Newcastle CBD and is very much at the centre of the city's burgeoning arts scene. Our programs are designed to nurture the skills and talents of our students and much of this is done through practical learning. By providing students with access to industry-standard equipment and state-of-the-art facilities, we prepare them for diverse and successful careers. Our students enjoy regular use of studio and recording spaces, performance and production facilities, laboratories, galleries and cutting-edge technology.

Next door to NUSpace’s innovative teaching facilities is the recently refurbished, heritage-listed University House. Home to our design studios and equipped with the latest digital tools for creating pixel-perfect, professional-quality work, University House is where we enable the makers of today and tomorrow.

The city precinct also includes our thriving undergraduate Bachelor Of Music and Community Music Program, both operating from the School’s Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, both with a packed schedule of contemporary performances. And just across the road in Northumberland House is Watt Space Gallery, the celebrated and longest running student gallery in Australia, which continues to excite audiences through its diverse and dynamic calendar.
