Medicine student tells the story of dementia
University of Newcastle medicine student, Tara Kannan, has been announced as a winner of this year’s National Dementia Storytelling Competition, an annual awareness initiative run by Dementia Training Australia (DTA) to improve the care of people living with dementia.

UON goes stackable with edX to transform education leadership
The School of Education will launch a 12 week Professional Certificate in Leadership and Management in Education on 1 August on the global education platform edX. This is the first time UON has offered a short online course or “taster MOOC” for professional learning and academic credit as a pathway into a current postgrad program.

English Language Centre ranked one of the top in the world
Students from the University of Newcastle English Language Centre have ranked the institution in the top three in Australia in the recent English Language Teaching (ELT) Barometer. The survey also places the centre in the top six in the world, a remarkable increase of over 53 places since 2016.
