Inaugural Staff Giving Week a success

Twelve events were held at Callaghan campus during Staff Giving Week (28 Nov - 2 Dec) with more than 400 staff gathering to celebrate the impact that our generous staff giving has in assisting UON’s talented and dedicated students and researchers in need.

Strong performance in difficult funding environment

2016 has been a great year for UON research. UON researchers performed strongly in both the 2017 National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and Australian Research Council (ARC) major grants rounds. This is despite strong competition for grants in a difficult funding environment.

Funding success helps asthma sufferers breathe easy

The University of Newcastle (UON) has attracted a total of $10.8 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). The funding will support 14 projects and one Career Development Fellowship aimed at solving some of the world’s most critical health challenges.
