What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is an event where people collaborate intensively on projects, typically involving software or hardware development. Participants, often including programmers, designers, and project managers, work in teams to create innovative solutions to specific challenges or problems.

Hackathons are known for their fast-paced, competitive, and collaborative environment, which encourages creativity and rapid problem-solving. They often result in developing new technologies, products, or features.

What is the project scope and what is the judging criteria based on?

The judging criteria for the myUni Hackathon are designed to evaluate the projects on multiple dimensions to ensure a comprehensive assessment. Here are the key criteria:

  • Innovation:
    • How unique and creative is the solution? Judges will look for originality and the novelty of the idea.
  • Impact:
    • How effectively does the solution address the identified pain points? The potential positive effect on the student experience will be a significant factor.
  • Feasibility:
    • Can the solution be realistically implemented within the myUni platform? This includes considering the technical and practical aspects of bringing the project to life.
  • User Experience:
    • How intuitive and user-friendly is the solution? The ease of use and overall design quality will be assessed.
  • Technical Execution:
    • Quality of the code and overall technical implementation. This includes the robustness, efficiency, and scalability of the solution.

These criteria ensure that the projects are not only innovative and impactful but also practical and well-executed, providing a balanced evaluation of each team’s work.
