Software and tools
The following software is available to all students during your studies at the University.
The Microsoft Student Advantage Scheme enables you access to digital downloads of Microsoft Office 365 on up to five PCs and five mobile devices, including Windows, Mac OS X, iOS and Android.
Applications available through the scheme include: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Teams, Sway and more.
This is the full version of the software – it will work offline – although after your relationship with the University ends, installed software will become 'read only' and you will need to purchase Microsoft Office from a commercial vendor.

You will also have free access to 5TB of cloud storage via Microsoft OneDrive.
This gives you space to back-up your uni work, as well as to store documents, photos, and other files, share them with friends, and even collaborate on content. You're free to decide how you want to use it and can access OneDrive anywhere, anytime.
Zoom is the University’s video and audio online conferencing solution – providing you with your own personal video conferencing space.
It enables you to easily host or join a virtual meeting, where you can screen share and collaborate with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Microsoft Teams is a group project platform that brings together file storage, chat, notebooks and task management in one convenient location. This is a great tool to use for group assignments and can be used for free using your student account.
Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered tool designed to boost productivity and streamline tasks. With your University Microsoft Account, you can access Copilot, complete with Enterprise Data Protection and all the benefits of a secure, collaborative AI assistant.
Software for your personal computer
A number of software packages and programs are available for you to download to your devices for free while you are a student here. These include anti-virus software, as well as programs that may be helpful for your course.
