Onedrive - 1 TB of free cloud storage
OneDrive is 1TB of cloud storage provided by Microsoft and associated with your NUmail account. The best news is, you can access OneDrive even after you graduate!
No matter where you are - on campus, at home, on the move or on the train - you
have access to the documents stored in your OneDrive as long as you have an
internet connection, just by logging into your NUmail account.
Note: there is a file upload limit of 2GB.
Capacity - OneDrive is 1TB of cloud storage.
Flexibility - Use OneDrive to save documents, photos, and other files in the cloud, share them with friends, and even collaborate on content. You're free to decide how you want to use it.
Compatibility - OneDrive includes Office Web Apps, which are free, web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
These are similar to the regular Office applications, but the documents are kept online in OneDrive. You can upload documents or create new ones. If you need more advanced features, you can click the command for opening the document in the standard Office program if it is available.
Coordination - A OneDrive sync app lets you synchronise files in your OneDrive library to your computer or other supported devices. You can download a version of OneDrive to Windows, iOS, and Android devices. A Mac OS version will be available soon.
Convenience - No matter where you are - on campus, at home, on the move or on the train - you have access to the documents stored in your OneDrive as long as you have an internet connection. You can even download the OneDrive app for your smart phone to view your files while you're on the move.
Control - You can give other people permission to view and edit your document. Need to work on a group assignment but are finding it impossible to get everyone together? You can choose to share specific files or folders with your fellow students online. You can modify file permissions so that you can edit and work on your assignments without having to be in the same room.
Security - All OneDrive content is private until you decide to share it.
Publishing power - Got something amazing you want to share? Easy, share links directly to your folders, files and photos from your OneDrive via email or social media.
1. Log in to your NUmail account.
2. Click on OneDrive in the top right of your screen.
The first time you open your OneDrive you will be prompted to allow SharePoint to run. OneDrive is a component of SharePoint and Office365, so it is OK to click on Allow and Remember.
3. This is the main OneDrive screen where files are managed, created and uploaded.
Instructions for using OneDrive are available on the Microsoft help web pages, but the links below will get you started.
Note: OneDrive is referred to as OneDrive for Business on the Microsoft website. The SharePoint and site features are not available in this student version.
To install OneDrive on your Windows PC or your phone or tablet:

If you are using Windows 8 or 10 on your personal computer as your operating system, you may notice both OneDrive (Personal) and OneDrive for Business options are available.
What is the difference?
The personal version of OneDrive that comes pre-installed with Windows 8 or 10 typically has a capacity of 15GB.
The option associated with your NUmail account is called OneDrive for Business, but we just call it OneDrive. It is 1TB of cloud storage and available to you even after you graduate.
Can you use them both?
Yes, you can, and you can sync them as well.
However, if you are using one of our student lab machines running Windows 10, you won't be able to use the Windows 10 sync client. Your files are still accessible via the NUmail web version.
