Mail and deliveries

We have a range of mail and delivery services available to staff at UoN.

Internal mail is used to send items to staff between campus locations.

Internal mail is delivered and collected daily to most of our Newcastle (Callaghan) and Central Coast (Ourimbah) campuses.

All you need to do is place the envelope in your areas outgoing plastic tubs, satchels or bags and clearly write the following on the front of your envelope:

  • full name
  • Department/School/Faculty
  • room number
  • building level
  • campus

Reply paid service

The Post Office on campus provides a reply paid service to University departments. Requests for reply paid envelopes are processed through Complete Office Supplies (COS) and must include the following information:

  • number and size of envelopes required
  • account codes for printing and postage
  • identification for top left corner (stamped or printed)

External mail is used to send items off campus using Australia Post.

Staff who need to send personal mail should lodge it at the Australia Post shop located within the Shortland Building.

External mail is delivered and collected once daily to all areas on each campus. All external postage must be correctly prepared and placed in the plastic tubs, satchels or bags provided.

Bulk mail

When preparing a large or urgent mail out please notify the mailroom. This will ensure all mail is processed on the same day.

Mail supplies

The mailroom can supply any of the standard Australia Post mail consumables, such as Express Post satchels.

These items are at the cost of the particular business area. For more information about this service please contact the mailroom on your campus.

Sending goods Internationally using Australia Post

A Customs Declaration must be completed to send goods internationally. The completed Customs Declaration form (PDF) must accompany the goods when they are collected for dispatch.

Couriers are used to send large or important items. We can organise for a courier to transport items within Australia or overseas.

Courier services in Australia

Our nationwide courier service offers:

  • next flight (same day delivery) - capital cities only via an external courier
  • overnight (next day delivery) - via Express Post and to the cities and regions named by Australia Post
  • economy
  • off peak

International courier services

We use two providers for international courier services:

  • International Air Mail
  • International Express Courier

Sending items

To send an item using a courier please contact the Goods Inwards Store who will help you with the process. In most cases you will need to:

  1. Complete a goods dispatch advice form (COS stock item PS215031) available from the Goods Inwards Store
  2. Securely wrap and address your parcel
  3. If your parcel is to be sent internationally complete two customs declaration forms (PDF, 503KB)
  4. Phone the Goods Inwards Store by 1:30pm for collection that day

Our Goods Inwards Store manages the delivery of large items onto our campuses and facilities.

Please phone the Goods Inwards Store if you are expecting an item urgently.

All items addressed to you at your work address should be University-related. The Goods Inwards Store cannot accept personal items.
