The Educator Network is pleased to announce our June 2024 Showcase "AI Assisted Higher Ed: Balancing risk and opportunity"
Generative Artificial Intelligence, or GenAI, such as ChatGPT and CoPilot, have had a significant impact on the landscape of higher education, with numerous opportunities and challenges arising for educators and students alike. Generative AI technologies are adding to the variety of possible learning experiences, from content creation through to learning activities, assessment and feedback.
This showcase is an opportunity to share your approaches, excitement/anxieties, successes (or not) and engage with colleagues from across the institution on GenAI in teaching and learning in HE. We will include students in our day and will host special guests including senior University leaders.
Call for Papers (NOW OPEN)
A call for papers for the June tEN Showcase is now open.
We invite staff to register their interest in presenting in two different modes:
- 10-minute presentations
- 6-minute pecha kucha presentation in a lightning round (see examples at https://www.pechakucha.com/)
We invite you to submit under one of the following themes:
- In the Classroom
Highlight teaching approaches that integrate innovative tools and techniques into teaching. This might include flipped classrooms, collaborative learning supported by AI-driven platforms, immersive learning experiences, and emerging technologies.
- Academic Integrity and Assessment SecurityIn what ways and how can we adapt to the challenges and opportunities that GenAI brings to assessment? Are students invited to use GenAI in their assessments? How can teaching staff engage with GenAI in feedback processes?
- Enhanced Accessibility and Inclusion
Exploring how AI technologies can be leveraged to make education more accessible and inclusive for all learners, including those with disabilities. This could involve applications such as automated captioning, language translation, and adaptive interfaces.
- Ethical Implications
Address the ethical considerations implications of integrating AI into higher education. This could involve discussions around algorithmic bias, privacy concerns, and the broader impact of AI on the future of work and learning.
Please submit an abstract of 150 words and include your 50-word biography (maximum per person).
