The New England High Country boasts spectacular waterfalls, gorges, World Heritage-listed national parks, cool-climate vineyards and a fascinating and diverse cultural heritage. Canyoning, mountain biking, birdwatching, trout fishing and other outdoor adventures take on an exciting new dimension at altitude. You can also discover local galleries, museums, cafés, restaurants and much more.
Our Armidale office is located within the Tablelands Clinical School, established in 2009 in collaboration with the University of New England. The purpose-built facility supports medicine and allied health students with high-quality learning and teaching environments, including teaching clinics and simulation laboratories.
Students gain practical experience in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness while developing their clinical skills in a professional environment.
Armidale Hospital provides a broad range of medical services, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, geriatrics and emergency care, as well as outpatient clinics. Allied and support services include radiology, pathology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work, physiotherapy and pharmacy.
Students can apply for subsidised accommodation in our two three-bedroom villas, located within walking distance of Armidale Hospital and the Tablelands Clinical School. Additional hostel-style accommodation, owned by Hunter New England Local Health District, is available at Rusden House, approximately 200 metres from the hospital.
If student accommodation is unavailable or full, we may be able to subsidise the cost of alternative accommodation, helping make your rural placement experience more affordable.

As a student with us, you’ll have opportunities to get involved in community engagement activities across the local region. Previous students in Armidale have participated in outreach activities with rural schools and programs such as One Deadly Step, connecting with the community while gaining valuable insight into rural health and wellbeing.
