The ResLife Program

The ResLife Program is about building a strong, vibrant community. Our residents are all unique and at Student Living we’re all about celebrating our differences.

The program provides a holistic and integrated program of activities and events for all residents to participate in and enjoy. Our ResLife program ensures the student experience while living on campus is second to none. Facilitated by the Student Living team, our Residential Mentors and with the support of Residential Associations, the ResLife program promotes social responsibility and active citizenship, highlights the importance of donating time and funds to the broader community and encourages self-development.

The ResLife Program is made up of several themes, each celebrating different elements of life on campus.

ResLife Orientation

ResLife Orientation takes place at the beginning of each semester and aims to familiarise students with their new home away from home and give them a chance to meet fellow residents. It includes a wide range of activities such as social formal events, carnival activities, as well as training and self-development workshops.

Academic Achievement

Challenge yourself to reach your full academic potential. At Student Living, we promote lifelong learning and support you throughout the year to flex your mental muscles outside regular academic studies.

Community Connection Inclusivity, relationship building and ongoing connection. From Move-In Day, ResLife Orientation to our end of year events and everything in between, You’ll have the opportunity to engage in workshops, challenges, fun social competitions and much more all year round.

Culture and Diversity

We celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of our residential community and encourage residents to share and exchange their individual strengths, talents and cultural heritage with our community through fun, collaborative events.

Developing our leaders

To support the ResLife program and Student Living community, our residents have opportunities to take on paid and volunteer roles as leaders during their time on campus. These opportunities enhance their personal and professional development and help create life-ready graduates, ready to make meaningful contributions to our global community.

We also love hearing ideas from our residents, so if you would like to give some feedback or would love to see a specific event run as part of the ResLife program please reach out to us at  studentlivingsupport@newcastle.edu.au.

Living on campus taught me the importance of a sense of community and how it shapes your own purpose in life. I had a purpose and made a difference by donating to charity, participating in sports gala days, running activities as a Residential Mentor and just meeting new people. I am a completely different person now to when I started university off campus, and I wouldn't change that learning and self growth for anything.
