Inclusions

Student Living residents have access to a variety of utilities and inclusions on campus. For further information on other room inclusions and shared facilities like swimming pools and common rooms, visit our Where Can I Live page.

Utilities

Electricity, gas and water are all included in your weekly room fee.

Bike Storage

We encourage active travel at Student Living and we'd love for you to bring your bike when you come to live on-campus. We've got multiple bike sheds in the accommodation precinct for you to store your bike, so please don't leave your bike in your room or any common areas.

You can find the bike hubs in the precinct in four places:

  • Ground floor at Barahineban
  • Between Evatt House and South Residence
  • Next to the Green Room at International House
  • Next to the Cutler Rec Room at Edwards Hall

You can also find bike racks around the precinct, but make sure to lock your bike up. If you need a bike shed key, come and see us in the Student Living Office at West Residence.

There are also multiple bike hubs around campus so you can ride to class.

Cleaning services and equipment

Throughout the accommodation precinct, there are many shared spaces like common rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. As part of the Student Living community, it's your responsibility to keep these spaces clean and tidy.

Housekeeping services are provided to all units and studios on a weekly basis, but will only be undertaken if these areas are sufficiently tidy to facilitate cleaning. Common rooms and study spaces are checked daily and cleaned as needed and barbecue areas are cleaned weekly or as required.

The cleaners do not clean your bedroom, so you'll need to keep your own space tidy. You are also responsible for cleaning appliances (like toasters, microwaves etc.), washing up and putting away clean dishes/cutlery, vacuuming, and putting your rubbish in the correct bins in your unit.

But don't worry! You don't need to bring cleaning equipment with you. Residents have access to a communal cleaning cupboard within their floor or block that includes a vacuum, a mop and a bucket.

Internet access (wi-fi and wired)

Wired service (Ethernet port/s) is available in bedrooms and there is wireless internet connection (Wi-Fi) in the Common Areas. The wired and wireless networks available throughout the University’s Student Accommodation precincts are part of the wider University corporate network.

Access to this network is subject to the University’s Information Technology Conditions of Use policy.

Laundries

There are 14 laundry spaces at Callaghan and one laundry space at Ourimbah. In total, there are 69 washing machines and 69 dryers for  Student Living residents to use 24/7.

A minimum balance of $2.50 is required to activate the machines at Callaghan Campus. Ourimbah Campus residents are required to set up a laundry account, but are not required to pay for laundry facilities as per their accommodation contract.

Follow these 5 simple steps to pay for your washing and drying via mobile:

  1. Register a laundry account at uon.eziwash.com.au using your student email. Note down your login details so it’s always easy to sign back in when you’re ready to do a load.
  2. Top up your account using your debit or credit card. (Not required for Blue Gum House residents).
  3. Scan your phone over the QR code sticker on the machine (your phone will identify the machine).
  4. Confirm your service code.
  5. Start your machine.

These instructions are also displayed in each laundry space so you don't forget!

Security

Your safety is our top priority. All rooms are individually keyed, protected with access cards and fully maintained. There is also 24/7 security and CCTV throughout the precinct.
