Work Integrated Learning and Industry Placements
The School of Information and Physical Sciences provides companies with several ways for companies to offer placements for our students. Hands-on professional experience is vital to students' learning, and helps companies raise their profile among the university community. From a practical perspective, those placements allow companies to:
- Select highly skilled, final-year students from our undergraduate programs to participate in company's activities;
- Assign them to internal projects that require Computing and/or Mathematical skills to be completed, for between 120 hours and 360 hours, depending on the program and modality of placement;
- Retain any intellectual property developed by students during their placement;
- Have insurance covered by the University of Newcastle.
