The  Surgical Skills Training Unit

The Surgical Skills Training Unit (SSTU) of the University of Newcastle is a world-leading manual skill training facility for surgeons, surgical trainees, clinicians and industry. The SSTU is the only surgical training skills facility servicing the Hunter New England, Central Coast and Northern NSW region.

The purpose-built Surgical Skills Training Unit is the first of its kind in the region and it features cutting-edge simulation technology and training facilities.

Full lab room of students Located within the recently established Anatomy Precinct on The University of Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus, the SSTU spans across two floors and has been designed to run training courses for all surgical professions. It is also the ideal training facility for healthcare industries that have an interest in detailed anatomical understanding.

The facility is available for hire and provides a personalised and fully managed service, that provides a world-class environment for professional development, education, company workshops, and state of the art technology training for the region.
