Welcome to the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the University of Newcastle. We provide world-class preparation for a career in biomedical laboratory science, pharmacy and the health professions and are making research discoveries to solve local and global health problems.

Our School includes the disciplines of anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, microbiology and immunology, and is a world-class environment in which to conduct biomedical research. We have strengths in both discovery science and translational research, contributing to the advancement of global health and health professions through both our research and our research-informed teaching.

Our high profile has attracted significant grant funding success and the recruitment of world-class researchers who draw on a sophisticated array of tools and techniques to tackle current problems facing communities around the world today.

Our School delivers internationally renowned undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has primary responsibility for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Biomedical Science Honours programs, and the Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours program. Our teaching forms the foundation for the health professions including Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Medical Radiation Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, Oral Health Therapy and Speech Pathology.
