Among the Global Sport and Movement Collaborative’s membership are an esteemed group of international researchers that have made significant contributions to their fields. Global affiliates have deep and ongoing research collaborations with the University of Newcastle.
We have a history of cross-institutional partnerships with universities and organisations from around the world. Expressions of interest are welcomed from academics including post graduate students who wish to participate in our Academic Visitor program. This program is intended for scholars with a clearly defined research agenda who wish to visit Newcastle to make use of the Collaborative’s facilities and staff, engage with partners and share their research.
Please note that our capacity to contribute to costs of travel and accommodation is very limited and requires a long lead time. Visiting scholars should assume that they will need to be self-funded.
The Global Sport and Movement Collaborative is supported by an Advisory Board that provides strategic guidance and serves as a link between academia and practice, ensuring the Collaborative remains responsive to industry trends and societal needs. The Board meets quarterly and is chaired by Prof David Lubans. Board members include Prof Alex Zelinsky AO, Nathan Towney, Prof Robert Greenberg, Prof Craig Simmons, Prof Lisa Wood, Prof James Skinner, Prof Frances Kay (Hunter Medical Research Institute), Phil Gardner (Wests Group) and David Reid (FIBA).
