HIIT for Gastrointestinal Disorders
The High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for People with Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders project is the first trial to investigate the use of combined aerobic and resistance training in people with functional gastrointestinal disorders.
Outcomes include gastrointestinal symptom severity, inflammation, gut microbiome composition and function, quality of life, cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, and strength.
Funded by theCentre for Research Excellence in Digestive Health, this project is led by Dr Emily Cox and being conducted in collaboration with researchers from the University of Newcastle, Hunter Medical Research Institute and the University of Queensland.
