Athena Swan Working Party
The University of Newcastle re-established the Athena Swan Working Party to support the University's goal of Silver Accreditation. The purpose and function of the Athena Swan Working Party is to:
- Oversee the Athena Swan Silver Award submissions, including Cygnets as a pathway to Silver Accreditation for the University
- Coordinate data gathering (quantitative and qualitative) across the University
- Analyse data for key insights that will inform evidence-based initiatives
- Provide updates to Executive Committee twice yearly on progress towards Silver
- Promote and champion Athena Swan as well as Equity Diversity and Inclusion broadly in working party members' respective work areas
Leadership
Professor Jennifer Milam, Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Excellence is the Academic lead and Chair of the Athena Swan Working Party.
Working party membership
Membership of the Working Party includes senior members of the University, staff with responsibilities for Equity Diversity and Inclusion, staff who were involved with the original Athena Swan Assessment team, staff with lived experience and staff with unique skills to support the Working Party to achieve its goals.
