After an intensive 13-week journey, these visionary innovators will pitch their commercial enterprises to a distinguished audience of investors and entrepreneurs at the University’s Q Building on Wednesday night – 6 November.

Led by the University of Newcastle’s Integrated Innovation Network (I2N), ten standout teams represent Cleantech and All-Industries solutions, underscoring the University’s commitment to creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

With a strong emphasis on diversity, almost half of this years’ participants are female, and seven out of ten teams are female led, exceeding industry averages.

Professor Zee Upton, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation highlighted the significance of the I2N Accelerator program including Cleantech and All-Industries.

“At the University of Newcastle, we tackle local and global challenges. As our regions transition to a future of clean energy, our University is committed to forging the path toward a greener future for all by bringing big ideas to life and through education and connection with industry.

“By fostering local entrepreneurship through initiatives like our I2N program, we are supporting local innovators and transforming the Hunter into a dynamic hub of innovation that can make a real difference, not only in our communities, but globally as well,” Professor Upton said.

The University recently launched three new programs in Clean Energy, including a Graduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters program, which will empower students to be at the forefront of delivering sustainable energy infrastructure in Australia and across the globe.

Director of Entrepreneurship, Siobhan Curran explained that Demo Night offers a unique opportunity to engage with the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and witness the next wave of industry leaders in action.

“Demo Night is our biggest night of the year, providing participants the opportunity to have that breakthrough moment where they pitch their ventures to potential investors and take their ideas to the next level,” Mrs Curran explained.

The Accelerator program is part of the University’s efforts to create a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Hunter by connecting innovators, startups and entrepreneurs with coaching, community, customers and capital.

Supported by industry leaders such as the Port of Newcastle, Regional NSW’s Accelerating Regional Innovation Fund, and the Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE), the program has guided participants to transition their ideas from lab concepts to global market solutions.
