Virtual Reality in Stroke Rehabilitation
Virtual reality (VR) is rapidly emerging as a tool in rehabilitation for neurological conditions such as stroke. Dr Merel Hoskens, a lecturer in health, sport and human performance at the University of Waikato and Dr Jodie Marquez, Director of Research Ethics and Integrity at the University of Newcastle, participated in the joint seed funding initiative offered by both universities to compare VR therapy to real-world therapy. Neuromersiv, a private company specialising in VR for neuro-rehabilitation provided the VR devices and the University of Newcastle supplied the brain imaging tools for this project.

Indigenous wisdom enhances learning and teaching
A seed funded project between the University of Waikato and the University of Newcastle aims to improve Indigenous student engagement in science and health education. The project focuses on integrating Indigenous perspectives into teaching, enhancing learning experiences, and using digital tools to make online education more engaging.
