Students offer remote service to improve our diet
Students of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics program at the University of Newcastle are inviting people to video call or ‘Zoom’ in to a Telehealth clinic for advice on their diet.
Anyone (aged 18 years and over) who would like to improve their diet can make an appointment for a personalised assessment of their food and nutrient intake and eating behaviours. The service is provided by final-year students under the supervision of an Accredited Practising Dietitian and is free to access for the remainder of 2020. No referral is necessary.
This pilot program, prompted by the need for remote services during the COVID-19 pandemic, provides the public with continuity of care during times when our movements are restricted. It also provides our students with valuable practical skills in dietary consultations and the emerging field of telehealth.
