
Nutrition and Dietetics Telehealth Clinic
The University of Newcastle offers personalised dietary assessment and advice via a Nutrition and Dietetics student led telehealth clinic. The service is provided remotely via Zoom, under the supervision of an Accredited Practising Dietitian and is free to access.
Services provided
Individual consultation
You will complete a comprehensive assessment of your food and nutrient intake, and eating behaviours. During a 30 minute individual consultation, a student dietitian will work with you to develop personalised goals and provide advice, strategies and resources to support you to optimise your diet. Two additional students will observe the consultation.
The service is currently available for adults (aged 18 years and over) seeking dietary advice for type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes/insulin resistance, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and/or weight management, or adults with no pre-existing medical conditions seeking healthy eating advice such as increasing fibre, reducing salt intake, balanced vegetarian/vegan eating.
Referral and appointments
No referral is necessary.
Consultations will be available Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
Once you’ve booked you will be sent a link to a form for screening and to provide some information on health and food intake prior to your session.
Fees
This is a free service.
Location
Online. This service is provided via telehealth using Zoom and will need a computer or mobile device and access to an internet connection suitable for making video calls You will be provided with further information on the Zoom video call platform after you have booked your session.
