Chinese for Kids is a series of Chinese course specifically designed for children from kindergarten to Year 6. Currently we are offering two streams: Chinese for Kids (with Mandarin Background) and Chinese for Kids (without Mandarin Background). Students need to attend classes accompanied by a parent/guardian of theirs.

Chinese for Kids (with Mandarin Background) Stream

This stream is for kindergarten-Year 6 children who are native or near native Mandarin speakers but cannot read or write Chinese. In these courses, Students learn pinyin, radicals and strokes of Chinese characters. The instructor interact with students through various games and activities to help students develop Chinese language competence, particularly reading and writing skills.

The Chinese for Kids (with Mandarin Chinese) streams has six levels. Each level consists of A and B.

The textbooks for these courses are ‘Chinese’ (Published by People’s Education Press in 2016).

Chinese for Kids (without Mandarin Background) Stream

This stream is recommended for kindergarten-Year 6 children who have no Chinese background. In these courses, the instructor uses various class activities to help students develop their listening and speaking skills as well as communicative competence. Language games are frequently employed during class to increase the students’ interest as well as to create a fun environment for students to practice speaking Chinese.

The Chinese for Kids (without Mandarin Background) stream has three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

For these courses, the series of textbooks KUAILE HANYU is used. It takes up to 60 hours to finish Book 1 for the beginner level, another 60 hours or so to finish Book 2 for the intermediate level, and up to 150 hours to finish Book 3 and Book 4 for the Advanced level.
