Chinese for Adults

Students

Learning Chinese is easier than you might think. We have a wide range of courses to suit every level. Currently we are offering two series of Chinese courses for adults.

Comprehensive Chinese Series

In our Comprehensive Chinese courses, the instructor teaches in a cyclical manner, constantly reviewing language structure and function. Immersed in Chinese culture, students’ language competence progresses as their cultural awareness increases. Just as the name of this series indicates, students’ Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing are developed in a comprehensive way.

The Comprehensive Chinese Series covers three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

For all the Comprehensive Chinese courses, the series of textbooks ‘New Practical Chinese Reader’ is used. It takes up to 80 hours to finish Book 1 for the beginner level, another 80 hours or so to finish Book 2 for the intermediate level, and up to 200 hours to finish Book 3 and Book 4 for the Advanced level.

Spoken Chinese Series

In our Spoken Chinese courses, the task-based language teaching and learning approach is used. The instructor uses meaning-centred class activities to improve students’ interactive and inter-communicative competence. In these courses, students not only learn how to say but also what to say in Chinese on various types of occasions.

The Spoken Chinese series has eight levels in total.

For all the Spoken Chinese courses, the series of textbook ‘Experiencing Chinese Oral Course’ Books 1-8 are used for the eight levels respectively. It takes up to 80 hours to finish each level.
