“East Meets West Exhibition 2024” Is On
It is exciting and exquisite! “East Meets West” Painting Exhibition 2024 is now on our doorstep and not to be missed. This exhibition will be held at the Hunter Wetlands Centre (HWC) from the 2nd of February to the 29th of February 2024. It is based on the themes of the wetlands conservation and education, and the celebration of the Year of the Wood Dragon. This is a unique occasion to shine light on the hidden talents in our region who are gifted with such artistic flair and creativity. This may also well be a treasure hunt as some of the paintings are from well-established Sydney-based Chinese artists. Hope to see you there! Happy Year of the Wood Dragon!
“East Meets West” Exhibition: Calling for Your Artwork!
The Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Newcastle and the Hunter Wetlands Centre (HWC) will be holding this exhibition as part of the Chinese New Year celebration (Year of the Wood Dragon) in 2024. The exhibition will focus on nature with an aim to bring to our community the appreciation of combining Chinese and western painting styles and techniques in the artwork. We are now inviting you to enter your artwork for exhibition and sale based on the theme choices of “wetland wildlife”, “wetland landscape”, and “dragon”.
Free Chinese Painting Workshop: Birds In Wetlands
This workshop aims to equip local community with basic knowledge and techniques of Chinese painting. Participants will learn the basics of traditional Chinese ink brush painting, using simple but expressive brush strokes on rice paper to create beautiful Chinese landscape painting, and appreciate Chinese philosophy and aesthetics regarding paintings.
China Week
Newcastle China Week is an initiative to facilitate greater understanding between Newcastle and China through a series of interactive academic, cultural and social events.
China Study Tour
This is a cultural and educational visit to China organised annually by the Confucius Institute.
My Chinese Story Competition
This is an activity for all Confucius Institute students to showcase theirs stories in studying Chinese, the competition is organised by UON Confucius Institute annually.
