Auchmuty Library

New Learning Lounge

An old, dull reading room in the Auchmuty library has been transformed with a $1.6million refurbishment into a bright light-filled collaborative learning environment. Gone are the dark and dreary furniture and a large portion of the red brick and in its place instead is a light, bright, vibrant space with funky furniture and a range of comfortable study spaces.

The collaborative study spaces consist of a variety of group work tables and lounge chairs including 10 collaborative workstations supported by large computer screens. The Learning Lounge is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) space however, there are 11 desktop PC's available for short term use.

Accessing the internet is easy with high-speed wi-fi as well as a range of network connection ports. Charging is also easy with power points and USB ports located throughout the work tables and within the lounges.

A student survival station with four microwaves and hot and cold water is also in the new lounge space. Vending machines will also be installed in the survival station offering choice for students needing quick study pick me up.

The Learning Lounge is open 24hrs a day with swipe card access available after normal library hours.
