The Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting is designed for students who have qualifications in an area other than accounting and will equip you with knowledge of accounting concepts and theory, and provide a pathway for a career in accounting. Achieving the requirements of the Master of Professional Accounting means you meet the eligibility requirement for entry into CPA Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Before you get started
To ensure that the process goes smoothly for you, you should complete the following steps before applying:
- Review the program that you wish to apply for. Note the admission criteria, admission instructions, requirements & structure and any additional information listed.
- Review the program fees and costs.
- Check whether your postgraduate program has a Semester or a Trimester closing date. Please view the application closing date.
- If you are from a non-English-speaking background, you need to satisfy the University's English language requirements and ensure that you can provide evidence of your English proficiency if required.
You will be considered for entry based on criteria such as your undergraduate studies and/or equivalent prior learning and/or relevant work experience.
Other things to consider
Make sure you double check the special entry requirements, assumed knowledge or recommended studies for the degree:
Entry into the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting (40 units) will be available for applicants who have:
- 3 year Bachelors Degree; or
- 3 year Diploma in a related field; or
- 3 year Diploma not in a related field + 1 year relevant organisational experience; or
- 2 year Diploma in a related field + 2 years relevant oganisational experience; or
- 2 year Diploma not in a related field + 3 years relevant organisational experience; or
- At least 5 years organisational experience.
*related fields include accounting, business, commerce, communication, economics, finance, human resource management, industrial relations, management, or marketing.
Only after the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate students will be eligible to formally enrol in the Masters Program. They will, however, receive 40 units credit by virtue of the studies they will have already completed. Therefore they will be required to do an additional 80 units to complete their Masters Degree.
